What is ACT?

Life isn't about finding yourself.
Life is about creating yourself.

ACT is a powerful and creative psychotherapy approach that teaches you to acknowledge and accept how the human mind works, commit to taking actions that get you closer to the life you desire, and create a meaningful life – one that is built on your values, goals, and what truly matters to you.

ACT gets its name from its core message: acceptance of the things that are out of our control and commitment to actions that enrich our lives.

Depending on your individual circumstances and issues, ACT can help you to:

  • Manage difficult thoughts and emotions
  • Take committed action toward your goals
  • Explore your core values and what you want your life to be about
  • Enhance self-understanding
  • Develop skills such as mindfulness and self-compassion
  • Improve your relationships with other people
  • Navigate challenges such as anxiety, depression, panic attacks, or perfectionism

Simply put, it is a form of talk therapy where you can share and discuss your issues with a trained professional who is listening and helping you deal with them in a way that helps you move forward and live a meaningful life.

What you can expect from our sessions:

  • Guidance & support
  • Non-judgmental relationship
  • Person-centered approach tailored to your unique needs and goals

  • Collaborative relationship
  • Active participation

  • Confidentiality

What you should NOT expect from our sessions:

  • Advice giving: I won't tell you how to live or what you "should" do
  • Judgmental relationship: There is no "right" or "wrong" way to think or feel
  • One-size-fits-all: I don't use a uniform approach for every client that would ignore your unique life context
  • Top-down authority: I don't hold all the answer while you "know nothing"
  • Passive participation: I don't prescribe ready-made solutions
